Warden's Message
I am immensely proud of the role the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville plays in this part of eastern Ontario and the brilliant blend of urban and rural, resilience, innovation, persistence and loyalty of residents and business leaders in this region. While many of our communities are becoming more urbanized, it is the deep rural roots and character which has largely defined the evolution of the Counties. I believe Counties Council is determined and fiscally responsible stewards and leaders and the Members will continue to demonstrate these traits throughout my time as Warden.
We face major challenges ahead, such as housing, inflation, access to healthcare, long-term care, a variety of major capital investments, County roads, the health of the Paramedic Service and first responders, community safety and well-being, the modernization of municipal services, environmental and climate change considerations which must be confronted head-on. Navigating these challenges will not be easy as these issues are complex. As a Council we must govern not only for today’s realities but to set a solid foundation for the future of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville and all who choose to live here. It is my commitment to bring my absolute best to the table and work to create the conditions for robust and respectful dialogue, deliberations, and decision-making. I am excited to make this journey as Warden and see the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville grow and continue to demonstrate why in Leeds Grenville, lifestyle grows good business.
