Registry of Disclosures of Pecuniary Interest
Once sworn into office, it is the obligation of all members of Council, when making decisions or giving advice on council matters, to act honestly and responsibly in carrying out their functions. These principles also apply to appointed members of various Committees.
The Municipal Conflict of Interest Act requires members to declare any direct or indirect pecuniary interest in relation to a matter under consideration. A pecuniary interest in a matter is one where there is a reasonable likelihood or expectation of financial loss or gain of the individual or related persons as per the Act. The onus to declare a pecuniary interest rests with the member and time for this process is allocated on every meeting agenda.
It is required that all members submit disclosures of pecuniary interest in writing to the Clerk as well as make a verbal declaration at the meeting where the item in question is to be discussed.
The registry below has been created to provide interested parties with access to past disclosures of pecuniary interest.
