Social Housing
The Community and Social Services Division - Housing Department is responsible for administration and oversight of the following:
- The Social Housing Registry processes applications for subsidized housing and maintains the centralized waiting list.
- Property management and administration of approximately 670 public housing units.
- Rent supplement programs that provide rent-geared-to-income units through private landlords.
- Eight non-profit housing providers and one co-operative housing provider;
- Affordable housing projects located in Brockville, Elgin, Oxford Mills, Kemptville and Prescott.
- Affordable Housing programs including Housing Allowance, Ontario Renovates, Homeownership and Secondary Suite funding.
- The 10 Year Housing and Homelessness Plan.
- Service management of programs funded by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.

Assistance Available
- Housing Allowance provides renters with a flat rate monthly subsidy for rental assistance.
- Ontario Renovates helps eligible households make necessary repairs to the home that they own and occupy.
- Home Ownership provides down payment assistance to first-time home buyers for the purchase of a home.
- Secondary Suite Programs provides assistance with funding to increase the supply of affordable rental housing through the creation of a secondary suite.

Qualified Attendant Care staff provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living in an integrated rent-geared-to-income apartment building. Services include, but are not limited to, assistance with personal hygiene, rising and retiring, meal preparation and toileting.
