Committees and Boards

The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville believes everyone should be treated equally. Removing barriers is the sole function of the Leeds Grenville Accessibility Advisory Committee. To achieve this, the Committee ensures relationships are fostered and focus is directed entirely toward removing barriers.

The Accessibility Advisory Committee is comprised of five to ten members of the public appointed by Counties Council, three members of Counties Council, and the Warden, ex-officio.

From time to time Council establishes Ad Hoc Committees often comprised of various members of Counties Council. These Committees are an important resource for supporting municipal government and are created to serve a specific purpose or reach a desired goal.

Code of Conduct Committee

The Code of Conduct Ad Hoc Committee is tasked with the development of a Council Code of Conduct.

Waste Management Task Force

The Waste Management Task Force is responsible for identifying current and future waste management needs of the Counties.

The Committee of the Whole is comprised of all members of Counties Council who fully participate in debate and forward recommendations to Council for final decision. The Committee facilitates the decision-making process of Council and is an important forum for policy debate.

Recommendations from the Committee of the Whole relate to various issues including governance, Public Works, Economic Development, budgets and finance and policy development.

The Committee of the Whole meets on the Wednesday during the first full week of the month in the Council Chambers at 9:00 a.m. Agendas and Minutes are available and meeting dates are included in the Council Calendar or by visiting our Agendas, Minutes and Videos page.

The Joint Services Committee is comprised of all members of Counties Council, five members from the City of Brockville represented by the Mayor, and Mayors from the Towns of Gananoque and Prescott. The Committee is responsible for determining service levels, policies, and budgets relating to the provision of Ontario Works, Social Housing, Children's Services, Paramedic Services, and the administration of the Provincial Offences Act.

The Joint Services Committee meets on the first Tuesday during the first full week of each month in the Council Chambers at 9:00 a.m. Agendas and Minutes are available, and meeting dates are included in the Council Calendar and can also be viewed on our Agendas, Minutes and Video page.

The Landfill Liaison Committee must consist of no less than 10 and no more than 15 members and is generally comprised of interested and knowledgeable members of the public. Membership includes four members from Edwardsburgh Cardinal, one member from each of the North-East, North-West, and South-West quadrants of the Counties, as well as one member each from Prescott and Brockville. Other members are appointed at large.

The establishment of the Landfill Liaison Committee is required under the Certificate of Approval for the currently undeveloped ED-19 regional waste disposal site. The purpose of the Committee is to review and make comment on any activities associated with the site and shall include a review of Operations and Monitoring reports, review of complaints, as well as the development and implementation of a plan for eventual end use and perpetual care at the site if brought into operation by the Counties.

The Maple View Lodge Committee of Management is comprised of six members of Counties Council and has a mandate to make recommendations on strategies and broad policy matters pertaining to Long-Term Care at Maple View Lodge. Current members are Mr. Cameron, Mr. Haley, Mr. Hoogenboom (Vice Chair), Ms. Peckford, Mr. Scott (Chair) and Ms. Smith-Gatcke (Warden).

Maple View Lodge is a Counties-owned Long-Term Care home with 60 residents and is located in Athens.

The St. Lawrence Lodge is a 224-bed Long-Term Care facility jointly owned and operated by the City of Brockville, the Towns of Gananoque and Prescott and the Counties. Counties Council appoints three Council members to the St. Lawrence Lodge Committee of Management.

The St. Lawrence Lodge Committee of Management meeting on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 9:00 a.m. at the St. Lawrence Lodge, 1803 County Road 2 East in Brockville.
