United Counties of Leeds and Grenville Lowers Flags in Honour of Tumbler Ridge Tragedy
The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville stands with Canadians across the country as we reflect on the heartbreaking tragedy that occurred in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia.
To honour the individuals who lost their lives, flags at County buildings have been lowered to half‑mast for the next seven days. Our thoughts are with the families, friends, and all those in the Tumbler Ridge community who are facing such profound grief. The impact of this event is felt far beyond the region, and we share in the sorrow being experienced nationwide.
“On behalf of Counties Council and our entire community, I offer our deepest sympathies to everyone affected by this devastating incident. By lowering our flags, we join Canadians from coast to coast in expressing compassion, respect, and solidarity during a very painful time.” — Warden Corinna Smith‑Gatcke
Lowering the flags serves as a collective gesture of remembrance and support as communities across Canada come together in the wake of this tragedy.
