New jail, women's mental facility for Brockville

Brockville will get a new jail and an expansion of the St. Lawrence Valley Correctional and Treatment Centre as part of $500 million in Eastern Ontario Corrections spending announced by the provincial government on Thursday.

In announcements that were hailed as great news by MPP Steve Clark and regional mayors, the government also promised to build a new jail in Kemptville, a new building for the Quinte Detention Centre in Napanee and renovations at the Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre once the Kemptville lockup is built.  Read the full story.
