Bioindustrial group targets Maitland site

A government-funded business accelerator has opened a local office to woo the green biochemical industry to Eastern Ontario.

Local mayors, industrialists and the St. Lawrence corridor commission hailed Bioindustrial Innovation Canada’s announcement as a game-changer for the area, which is struggling to reverse the decades-long exodus of good-paying industrial jobs.

BIC, which was established in Sarnia 12 years ago to attract green and clean technology to the area once known as the Chemical Valley, is expanding to create a new “sustainable chemistry cluster” in Eastern Ontario, with the Brockville office as its headquarters.  Read the full story.
