Leeds Grenville Accessibility Advisory Committee Hosts Free Regional Seminar
The Leeds and Grenville Accessibility Advisory Committee is inviting residents, community organizations, businesses, municipal staff, and accessibility advocates to attend a free seminar focused on creating more inclusive and accessible communities.
The seminar will take place on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the North Grenville Municipal Centre, 285 County Road 44, Kemptville.
Participants will hear diverse perspectives and personal experiences from individuals who navigate accessibility barriers daily, while gaining practical tools and strategies to help make workplaces, services, and communities more inclusive for everyone.
This year's keynote speaker is Mike Shoreman, an award-winning mental health and disability advocate whose inspiring journey has made him a leading voice for accessibility and youth mental health in Canada. Mr. Shoreman will speak about why accessibility is about more than compliance and how organizations can create truly inclusive environments for everyone.
Keynote Speaker Biography
Mike Shoreman is a mental health and disability educator, professional speaker, coach, author, and advocate whose transformative journey has inspired audiences worldwide by his Great Lakes Crossings campaign for youth mental health. Diagnosed in 2018 with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, a chronic neurological condition that drastically altered his life, Mike Shoreman overcame immense challenges to become a symbol of resilience and empowerment. As a best-selling author and the subject of a multi-award-winning documentary, his work has raised critical awareness for youth mental health in Canada, earning him prestigious accolades, including the 2024 Changemaker of the Year Award and the King Charles III Coronation Medal.
