The municipality will officially acquire a "large portion" of the former Kemptville College from the province later this month, it confirmed on Thursday. After reaching an agreement in principle with the province in November, the sale was made official in late December and will see the Municipality of North Grenville assume ownership of most of the 633-acre campus - a site where the University of Guelph previously delivered agricultural programming - and transform it into an "education and community hub.
The first phase of rehabilitation work of the fortifications at Fort Wellington National Historic Site will begin this spring, Parks Canada announced this week.Parks Canada is restoring the fort's battlements including the fraise, revetment wall, palisade, and entrance gate, they said in a statement Monday.
The Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley, City of Brockville and the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville (the affected municipalities) have drafted an agreement for the transfer of land (the annexed lands), located within the Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley and United Counties of Leeds and Grenville to the City of Brockville by way of a boundary adjustment proposal pursuant to sections 172 and 173 of the Municipal Act, 2001, Chapter 25.
