The Community and Social Services Division - Housing Department is responsible for administration and oversight of the following:

The Social Housing Registry processes applications for subsidized housing and maintains the centralized waiting list.
Property management and administration of approximately 670 public housing units.
Rent supplement programs that provide rent-geared-to-income units through private landlords.
Eight non-profit housing providers and one co-operative housing provider;
Affordable housing projects located in Brockville, Elgin, Oxford Mills, Kemptville and Prescott.
Affordable Housing programs including Housing Allowance, Ontario Renovates, Homeownership and Secondary Suite funding.
The 10 Year Housing and Homelessness Plan.
Service management of programs funded by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.

Assistance Available

Subsidized Housing

Apply to the Social Housing Registry for rent-geared-to-income or affordable housing units.
Tenant Resources for tenants residing in units managed by the Social Housing Department of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville.

Affordable Housing Programs

Housing Allowance provides renters with a flat rate monthly subsidy for rental assistance.
Ontario Renovates helps eligible households make necessary repairs to the home that they own and occupy.
Home Ownership provides down payment assistance to first-time home buyers for the purchase of a home.
Secondary Suite Programs provides assistance with funding to increase the supply of affordable rental housing through the creation of a secondary suite.

Special Housing Needs

Individuals and families may have special housing needs because a household member has a severe mental illness, or a physical, developmental, or intellectual disability and requires support for daily living activities. Follow the links below to learn more about community partners who may be able to assist:

Lanark, Leeds and Grenville, Addictions and Mental Health
Housing solutions include group home environments, co-operative living accommodations, transitional housing, and independent living apartments.

Ontario March of Dimes
Qualified Attendant Care staff provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living in an integrated rent-geared-to-income apartment building. Services include, but are not limited to, assistance with personal hygiene, rising and retiring, meal preparation and toileting.
