Need help reducing your child care costs?

Families who live in Leeds and Grenville who need help with the cost of licensed child care for their children up to 12 years old, can apply for Child Care Fee Subsidy.

  • Do you currently use licensed child care?
  • Would you like to use licensed child care but find it unaffordable?
  • Are you in school; or
  • Are you working?
Eligibility

Depending on your annual family income, you may qualify for full or partial child care fee subsidy, to assist with the monthly costs of licensed child care.

To be eligible for child care fee subsidy, the following criteria must be met:

  • Applicant(s) must be a resident of Leeds and Grenville.
  • Applicant(s) are required to have a confirmed space in a licensed child care program.
  • All parents/guardians in the household must be working or going to school.

Note: In cases where an applicant is not working or going to school, but that child care has been identified by a community/health professional as a support needed for a child to achieve optimal growth and development, a Special Need/Social Need Recommendation Form should be submitted.

To see if you may be eligible for Child Care Fee Subsidy, click the link below to open the Child Care Fee Subsidy Calculator. Please note that this is only an estimate and does not guarantee approval for child care fee subsidy.

Application Process and Required Documents

Approval for child care fee subsidy is based on both your financial eligibility and eligible hours of care.

Financial eligibility is determined using an income test. The income test uses line 236 from your Notice of Assessment/ Reassessment or Universal Child Care Benefit statement.

Eligible hours are the hours in which you cannot care for your child(ren) due to work or education/training.

To apply for child care fee subsidy, please complete the online application form below or contact our office to set up an in-person meeting with a Case Manager at one of our offices.

The following documents are required as part of the child care fee subsidy application process:

  • Proof of identification - all applicants and children
  • Proof of where you live
  • Your most recent Notice of Assessment (NOA) from Revenue Canada
  • Proof of employment and/or education

Your eligibility cannot be determined until all of these documents are received by our office. These documents can be uploaded along with your online child care fee subsidy application or mailed/dropped off at one of our offices located in Brockville, Gananoque or Kemptville.

Special Need/Social Need Recommendation Form

There are situations where licensed child care may be identified to meet a child’s need for optimal growth and development, where the parent(s) is not participating in the workforce or pursuing education/training. In this case, the family may still be able to access child care fee subsidy to assist with the cost of licensed child care.

To be considered for child care fee subsidy eligibility, where the parent(s) are not working or going to school, the applicant must have a health professional/social agency complete a Special Needs/Social Need Recommendation form.

The social agency/health professional recommending child care would complete the form if it is believed that the child’s participation in a licensed child care program would benefit the child, alleviate the crisis and/or significantly reduce stress on the family.

Continued Eligibility

Parents are required to provide updated Notice of Assessment information as well as proof of employment/education annually to ensure continued eligibility for child care fee subsidy. Should your annual income and/or your work/education situation change, your eligibility for child care fee subsidy may also change.

Once approved for child care fee subsidy, applicants are responsible for notifying their Case Manager of changes in contact information, address, income, and/or hours of work or school. Failure to do so may affect your eligibility for fee subsidy and result in an overpayment.

If you have any questions or require assistance, a Program Support would be happy to assist you.  Contact 613-342-3840, extension 2351.
