Admission Process
Applications for admission to Maple View Lodge are coordinated through Home and Community Care Support Services South East. If you are interested in becoming a resident of our home please call the Home and Community Care Support Services.
Preparing for Admission to Maple View Lodge
We encourage our residents to bring personal items from home that will help them feel comfortable in their new environment. Keep in mind not to overcrowd the room so that we can deliver safe and effective care and housekeeping can maintain a clean, clutter free room.
Maple View Lodge provides an electric bed, therapeutic mattress, bedside table and a chair in the room as well as a built-in wardrobe closet with shelving. All materials are fire rated and robust enough for frequent thorough cleaning.
You will receive a pre-intake call from Administration explaining the admission process and required documents to bring with you on the day of admission. Click here for the list.
Admission Day
On admission day, you will be welcomed at Reception. One of our Registered Practical Nurses (RPN) will be called and he/she will meet you and take you to your room to start the departmental admission procedure. Please bring all medications that you are currently taking (prescription and over-the-counter).
Throughout the day, you will have the opportunity to meet staff and other residents. A staff member will take your picture for your medical record. Over the next few weeks you may receive visits from the Attending Physicians, Nurse Practitioner, Dietitian, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist and Recreation staff.
Please make sure that any clothing you bring with you is given to the nursing staff on admission day. They will take it to the laundry and label it with your name. This helps to ensure that when your clothing is laundered it is returned to you. Also, if new clothing items are purchased after admission day, they must be labeled to for their safe return.
An Administrative Assistant will come to see you and provide a copy of the admission package which includes the Resident Admission Agreement, Accommodation Charge Agreement and Consent for Personal Information. She will explain these documents to you so you are fully aware what you are signing. She will also provide a Resident Hand Book and ask for a copy of your Power of Attorney (POA) documents. POA documents are very important so we can be sure we are contacting the correct people for your personal health decision-making and financial information. If you wish to have a phone in your room or access the home's satellite television service, she will ensure the proper documentation is in place. She will also schedule your post-admission conference with you.
Maintenance staff will visit to inspect any electrical appliances you have brought with you (i.e., lamps, televisions) to ensure that those items are CSA approved.
Admission day can be overwhelming for the resident and their family. We strive to provide the support that you and your family need during this period.
