Dietary Services |
Our Dietary department prepares and serves safe, high quality, nutritious meals to our residents following our menu rotation. Maple View Lodge offers three meals a day in addition to three nourishment carts to promote fluid intake and snacks throughout the day. To ensure meal variation, two choices of entrée are offered as a main meal followed by choice of desserts. Therapeutic diets and dietary supplements are provided as recommended by the Registered Dietitian. Staff are responsible to monitor and record each Resident's food and fluid intake as part of their care plan to encourage overall health and well-being. Our Registered Dietitian devotes time to each resident to ensure their nutritional needs are met in accordance with Ministry standards. Mealtimes Breakfast: 8:15 a.m. Lunch: 12:00 p.m. Dinner: 5:00 p.m. Visitors and family members may purchase a meal ticket to dine with their loved ones. Tickets are available at the administration office. We require 24 hours' notice to for meal reservations. It is acceptable for a visitor to bring in prepared and purchased foods for their loved one, however we recommend that nursing staff be advised as some Residents may have food restrictions or special needs (i.e. diabetic diet, choking risk, swallowing difficulties, modified textures, etc.). Note -Outside foods cannot be stored in the Home's refrigerator for health and safety concerns, nor can it be permitted in the main dining room due to allergies of others. |
Environmental Services (Maintenance) |
The Environmental Services staff ensures that the building and grounds are cared for in accordance with standards set out by the Health and Safety Committee, the Ministry of Health and Long - Term Care and all other applicable legislation. Staff complete minor repairs and ensure upkeep of equipment as required. Staff will hang your loved ones paintings etc. We ask that you do not hang pictures yourself and limit the number of wall hangings. All electronic/electrical items brought to the Home for use by Residents must be inspected by maintenance staff before it is used. |
Housekeeping Services |
Housekeeping services are provided daily. Housekeepers are responsible for keeping bathrooms, sitting rooms, dining areas, all resident rooms and hallways clean and safe. Residents, if able, are encouraged to arrange their belongings and keep their own room tidy. Bringing in small items from home is encouraged but please consider our ability to effectively and safely clean the surfaces in the room as well as floor space. Staff and residents need ample space to move around safely. |
Laundry Services |
When a resident moves into Maple View Lodge, staff will label all items with the resident's name. All machine washable personal clothing is laundered by staff at the Home and returned within 48 hours. Clothing requiring dry cleaning, hand wash, wash cold, hang to dry, lay flat to dry, wool, suede, and silk is not recommended. Our industrial machines are pre-set to meet Ministry Guidelines for infection control, materials not recommended run the risk of damages. Any new clothing brought in must be placed in a bag with resident name and handed in to the Nurse’s desk on the community area so we can ensure it is labelled and returned to your loved one. Other facility linens are contracted to an outside linen service. Staff is not responsible for mending clothing additionally MVL is not responsible for lost or damaged clothing. Closet space is limited, and it is recommended you switch clothing out seasonally or keep as close the required number of outfits/items as possible. |
