Hunting Season - Limerick Forest

Friendly reminder that the deer rifle hunting season is open from November 4^th to the 17^th. We are "asking" all motorized users to refrain from using the trails during this short 2-week period so the hunters can have an opportunity to enjoy their sport. We are also requesting the same courtesy from non-motorized trail users, especially horseback riders, mountain bikers and hikers. Although we will not officially be closing any trails, your cooperation in respecting the interests of the hunting community during this time is greatly appreciated.

If you must visit the forest, then please note that the trails behind the interpretive centre are in a no-hunting zone. In this case, please use common sense, wear fluorescent-coloured vests and remember that stray or ricocheting bullets can still travel over a mile in distance. Thank you for your ongoing support and interest in Limerick Forest!

Limerick Forest - Trails Now Open to Motorized Vehicles

Please be advised that the Limerick Forest trail network is now open to motorized users. Please remember that the trails are multi-use and two-way, so you may encounter other trail users either approaching or coming up behind you.

Pit and Forsythe South Trails Closed May 9th, 2025

Please be aware that the pit and the Forsythe South trails will be closed on Friday, May 9^th, for the Eastern Ontario School Mountain Bike Challenge.

All non-participants should park at the Y and use the Forsythe North trail network that day.

Oxford-on-the-Rideau 60 Anniversary Tribute Cross Country Running Meet at Limerick Forest

On October 8th Oxford-on-Rideau Public School hosted a 60th anniversary tribute cross country running meet in Limerick Forest. This event gave local elementary students from Oxford on Rideau , South Branch, KPS, Merickville Public and Centennial 67 a chance to participate, and race the Limerick trails. The cross country meet saw over 250 students run the trails racing to qualify for the UC cup in Brockville.

Limerick Forest is looking forward to working with Oxford Public School for next year’s event!

Do you ride Dirt Bikes or ATV's in Limerick Forest?

If so, then please be aware that you must now belong to the Ontario Federation of Trail Riders (dirt bikes) or the Ontario Federation of ATV Clubs (ATV's) to ride in Limerick Forest.

Attention Trail Users - Saturday, September 20, 2025

This weekend, the trails will be shared with horses for the Horse Poker Ride, an all-day event hosted by the Eastern Ontario Horses of Course Club. We kindly ask that motorized users refrain from using the pit area and park elsewhere for the day on Saturday September 20, 2025.

Extreme caution and high-visibility clothing such as fluorescent orange vests, etc., is recommended for all forest users during hunting season, especially during the 2-week deer hunt in November.
