Council Highlights – September 25, 2025
Council formally recognized Mayor Herb Scott for his outstanding contributions to the region by dedicating the café at the newly constructed G. Tackaberry and Family Home in his honour.
Mayor Scott, long-serving Mayor of the Township of Athens and dedicated member of Counties Council, was celebrated for his leadership and vision, which were instrumental in the development of the new long-term care facility. His commitment to enhancing care for seniors across Leeds and Grenville was acknowledged during a special presentation at the Council meeting.

Council also recognized the retirement of Bill Guy, a member of the Public Works department since 2018, and former Interim Director of Public Works.
General:
· Council received the updated 2025 Asset Management Plan.
Council Actions:
· Awarded Contract No. PW-2025-28 for supply and delivery of winter sand.
· Awarded Contract No. PW-2025-29-1 for the construction of County Road 22 Dulmage Culvert Replacement.
· Approved the transfer of lands as part of County Road 43 redevelopment.
· Approved the reduction of speed on certain sections of County roads within the Village of Merrickville and the Hamlet of Jasper to 40 km/h.
