Housing Allowance

The Housing Allowance component of the Investment in Affordable Housing (IAH) for Ontario program, is intended to promote housing stability and affordability by providing a flat rate Housing Allowance based on eligible unit size.  As Service Manager, the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, Community and Social Services Division is committed to supporting renter households to maintain their accommodations and to allow them to remain in their community of choice within Leeds Grenville.

  • Households must be eligible for rent-geared-to-income assistance;
  • No member of the household may owe arrears to any social housing provider in Ontario;
  • One one member of the household may receive the Housing Allowance;
  • Households in receipt of rent-geared-to-income assistance are not eligible;
  • Households/units are only eligible for one type of subsidy;
  • Unit must meet local Occupancy Standards of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville - Community and Social Services Division;
  • Unit rent must not be higher than the average market rent for the area as prescribed by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing;
  • Unit must be in a satisfactory state of repair;
  • A unit in a hotel/motel, hostel, group home, congregate living arrangement, nursing home or retirement home is not eligible.
