Office Hours and Appointments

Child Care case management staff are available from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Missed appointments and cancellations may affect a family's eligibility for subsidy.

The Integrated Program Delivery Department manages and determines eligibility for Child Care Fee Subsidies for residents of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville under the authority of the Child Care and Early Years Act (2014). The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville is committed to ensuring that Child Care Services are delivered in an equitable, effective, and efficient manner, and that funding is targeted to those most in need.

Subsidies are available for children ranging in age from infant to 12 years of age, where the parent(s) is/are employed or enrolled in an educational or re-training program. Subsidy is also available to children with special needs who have been identified by social agencies or medical professionals. Approval of subsidy is based on the financial eligibility criteria set out by the Ministry of Education and the "eligible hours" of the parent(s) Eligible hours are the hours which a parent is unavailable to care for child(ren) due to participation in education or employment.

When providing Child Care Fee Subsidy, the Counties' staff is required to determine a parent's eligible hours and ensure that the Child Care Fee Subsidy provided corresponds to those eligible hours.

Child Care Fee Subsidy only applies to contracted licensed child care settings.

Waiting List and Application Process

If there is a waiting list for Child Care Fee Subsidy, inquiries are prioritized by date with eligible families receiving assistance as funding becomes available. An appointment date is scheduled to determine eligibility for Child Care Fee Subsidy. All applicants must ensure that they have their most recent Notice of Assessment from Revenue Canada. The application for Child Care Fee Subsidy can not be processed until ALL required information is received.

Once Child Care Fee Subsidy has been approved, an approval letter will be mailed outlining the effective date and hours approved. A copy of the letter will be forwarded to the Licensed Child Care Program. Files are reviewed annually or sooner if there is a change in family circumstances and it is the parent(s) to advise program staff of changes in contact information, address, income, and/or hours of work or school.

Wage Enhancement

Wage enhancement funding was introduced in 2015 to improve the salaries and benefits of Child Care Workers, to allow child care providers to enhance the wages of staff while maintaining the affordability of child care for families. Wage Enhancement Funding is administered by the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville based on the guidelines prescribed by the Ministry of Education.
